I don't remember off the top of my head which Shin Megami Tensei games have you trading in demons and angels for radical weapons made out of their essence or something. I think Soul Hackers does, but it doesn't have you murdering cosmic horror angels much, it's mostly about a cyberpunk vision quest to save your girlfriend from demonic possession, sort of. You should probably start with a more modern one like SMT:Nocturne or SMT IV though.

We brought this up in our discussion about Corruption of Champions a while back, but this episode raises the issue again: Sex, as it is portrayed in Monster GIrl Quest and in CoC, is so inscrutable and separated from actual eroticism that it is reduced into being another light aspect of an RPG. Like magic, sex is just as foreign an entity to the players of this game. You'd think a game filled with fucking and semen and tits and cocks would contain some part about it being sexy, right? But it's so meaningless and detached from reality that it becomes decoration. The hyper-perverse treatment of sex goes past being unrealistic into a kind of inert status, where a girl being magical and sexual are equivalent embellishments upon which to dress up a blank palette of a non-existant fantasy being.

This game, filled with sex, ends up being the opposite of sexy.

Given the general theme of "little to no thought given to mechanics," I am going to assume that the designer wasn't really giving a lot of thought to that, and was more focused on coming up with a puzzling array of weird shit and explaining why a little boy is sent instead of somebody competent.  To bastardize Tom Lehrer, "If the dongers come up, who cares where they come down?  That's not my department."

This is basically the plot of bayonetta, except I guess your weapons are actually made of demons and not angels.
