Judging by the picture alone, it looks like Tommy Wisseau gained some weight and started a band.

That was a better reading of DA SLUDGE than I could have dreamed

In response to the wrap-up, I did find some small pockets of female bodybuilders. They generally keep to their own subforums, and as you can imagine they give each other (and take) much more sound advice, and don't do this ridiculous thing where one person's nutritionist's advice turns into advice for EVERYONE via a game of telephone across the whole board.

I had a coworker who was into body building. Really into it. He'd work out two hours a day no matter what. He would also eat six hardboiled eggs as a between meal snack, and once I watched him eat 5k worth of calories from Taco Bell.

Dude looked great.

One for every win as Wii Fit Trainer in Smash Bros., followed by playing Max 300 nine times in a row on DDR, and finally just getting the high score in Whack-A-Mole.

Sure, it starts innocently like that, but then they're like, "we'll give you 100 eggs but they're cooked by homosexuals."

I really want to find one other "recipe" that involves Diet Coke and Tuna. Anywhere on the web.

Does anyone else think about that guy at the Old Country Buffet, eating nothing but meat and protein farting his way thru minimum wage?

This was a great one. I don't think I've laugh this hard at an episode in a long time, especially considering how far they were trying to reach to say "no homo!"

The one thing that bugged me was the wrap-up, though. The whole thing smacked of "Haha aren't men so stupid? Stupid shit always happens when you have a lot of men in one place! This would be way less stupid if it were a bunch of women!"

Granted, in this case, that absolutely rang true, and I'm sure you didn't mean to come across as offensive, but the way you guys presented it rubbed me the wrong way. It was still a great episode, though, and I'm looking forward to the next one.

This is a flavor of stupid that's very distinctly male, or perhaps more accurately, very distinctly testosterone-fueled. When Seanbaby wrote his article about scrapbooker rage, this is the other side of the coin of that.
Title: 198: Strong Body Feeble Mind
Post by: VelvetOwl on December 25, 2015, 02:33:32 pm
Oh, yeah, this absolutely is. The way it was phrased in the wrap-up sounded, to me, like it was being attributed as more of an across-the-board thing, though, rather than just talking about bodybuilders or other testosterone-fueled individuals, which would obviously be a distinctly-male brand of stupidity. I haven't read anything by Seanbaby in a long time, due to not finding him particularly funny, but I get what you're saying.

If you want to see mostly female type of stupidity check out any episode that has stuff about Sherlock/Supernatural, or the Loki Wives episode. While there are also obsessive male fans, the female majority is pretty well visible in the kind of insanity these fandoms produce.

Like I said, that was just how it initially came across to me. In retrospect, it was a knee-jerk overreaction on my part.

All of those people going "I hate eating! I hate eating so much!" really made me sad.

This isn't the first time I've considered that body builders are basically anorexics with a marginal amount of social acceptance, but lines like that really drive the point home.

Steve Reeves would totally kick these guys in the ass for being stupid. I mean, he would if he wasn't currently dead.

And somehow I don't think Arnold needed tuna vomit smoothies, bread nightmares, and ketosis to become the Terminator.

So I was listening to this episode again and I thought I'd chip in to explain a couple things that got you guys a little confused. Very late I know, but eh.

"Juicer" in bodybuilding circles means someone who abuses steroids. So when he called a guy a "fat juicer" it's nothing to do with food. The guy just has hell of a roidgut.

Also in the bit where they talk about "The Ethnic Swede" what's happened is it's a white guy who's put on so much of the skin bronzer that bodybuilders use for competitions that it looks like he's in blackface.

Also this is just a confirmation of something from that episode, but I worked in a tiny stockroom with a couple body builders, and they absolutely ate tuna and chewed gum basically nonstop. Luckily, they were also very hygiene-conscious people so it wasn't too bad, but I'd imagine some of those guys that are into body building and also weird manosphere shit probably reek to high heaven.
