corpse party is kind of ????? because from what I've heard there's some genuinely good stuff in there and it's a pretty good horror game, but then there's an entire sidequest involving the characters risking life and limb so one character's underage sister can get to the bathroom safely that ends with her pissing herself and hiding her wet panties in shame, which leads to another sidequest where another character risks life and limb to retrieve said panties for his own creepy masturbatory purposes.

don't read the manga. The manga is fetish porn garbage.

Yeah, the weird fetish crap does kind of get in the way for a lot of things, but I think it does a good job in spite of that. It's mostly weird short pops that are usually preceded or followed by something horrible, so normal folk focus on that, while fetish freaks hang back and get their jollies. Not perfect by any means, but the story and characters got me past it.

Point taken, but I stand by my opinion here. The game and anime are good in spite of all the weird pervert junk.

I don't know how many of you have seen the Corpse Party semi-sequel Book of Shadows, but that game not only outdoes Blood Covered in the gore department, it's also mostly based off of bad endings from the original game. The idea is that you get to see events play out somewhat differently, but worse. At the very end you get a snippet of where the next game is going, but only if your save game meets certain criteria.

If you thought the underage sister needing to find a bathroom thing was bad, Book of Shadows is all kinds of worse. It's truly amazing what these series can get away with.

Anyhow, what is everyone looking forward to as far as new releases go? I know SAO II just started airing and I'm watching that, I'm glad the show is finally moving away from the fan service-y fluff and is trying to build a thrilling plot. I'm curious to see how the Psycho Pass movies turn out, too.

Jojo is just about at the part where part 3 gets and stays good for most of the rest of part 3, so look forward for half a year (or more) of good jojo episodes.

Regarding new things, the only thing I'm watching is Monthly Girl Nozaki (Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun). Give the first episode a watch, it's a comedy, find out the rest yourselves.

Maybe I'll catch up on Space Dandy which is also continuing for another season.

Space Dandy is back for a second season and it is looking awesome thus far. The season premier, which can be accurately described as "Crisis on Infinite Dandy's" is probably one of the best episodes of the series thus far. To wit: (Linked for spoilers...Not that that really matters for such a ridiculously silly series)

Also just noticed they came out with an english dub of Kill La Kill and Toradora! (The second I wouldn't really call "good" but I enjoyed it a few years ago when the subs were being released so watching the dub is a nice nostalgia trip)

Also look at this bullcrap regarding that new sailor moon series:

What'd you do to all my goofy-ass faces, people making Sailor Moon?

Is this what people want in "modern" anime? Zero facial expression? Maybe they blew all of their budget on advertising, or maybe they thought that newer viewers would respond to this style better?

Word on the street is that because there's so much focus put on "THIS VERSION IS JUST LIKE THE MANGA" with the new sailor moon, the animators are under pain of death to keep her on-model at all times, so she looks like her manga counterpart at all times. Of course, part of the deal is a lot of western sailor moon fans aren't as familiar with the manga as the anime, and the manga gets PRETTY DIFFERENT a lot. So the new series is at a disadvantage in general because since it's keeping itself more strictly to the manga, people are going to complain that it's not exactly like the old anime.

(I've also heard Usagi is less of a clumsy ditz in the manga, so it's not surprising they'd push her less comically than in the original anime)

Regarding new things, the only thing I'm watching is Monthly Girl Nozaki (Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun). Give the first episode a watch, it's a comedy, find out the rest yourselves.

I am seriously hype you guys are checking out Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun because it is HILARIOUS, and as someone who goes to school for comics I will tell you the jokes about making comics are totally spot-on as well. I'd definitely recommend checking out the manga as well because there's a lot of funny stuff that the anime isn't going to get to any time soon (and personally I think the gags are paced better)

I've read quite a bit of the manga, and I'm waiting until all the supporting cast gets introduced, because they're all so good. I personally don't really like the 4koma format, so I'm enjoying the anime more so far, since they got most of the timing well in the first episode.

edit: oh hey the 2nd episode is up

I just watched it and please take my word for it that it is super funny (and it looks like they're going a bit faster with introducing characters since Mikoshiba and Seo both got introduced in this ep, and Kashima and Hori are going to show up in the next one.)

I'm hoping they make episodes out of the two incidents where the boys get together to play dating sims and the time they all get lost in the train station because those are probably some of my favorite stories so far in the series.

Oh man, it's been a long time since an anime made me chuckle. I should keep an eye on this series. Plus this kind of anime is perfect for the summer, I feel.
