That thing about people who want to fuck animes sounds about right to me from my experience both with real life huge nerds and the internet, since the only dude I knew who was really actually into anime porn and the like was a kid I knew in 9th grade, and had all sorts of other creepy things about him. He tried inviting me to his place once to watch some anime porn with him, but I thankfully refused. I literally have to idea how I managed to not end up fucked up because of all the anime I watched as a teen and all my wasted time on 4chan.

Jesus Christ, I'm sick for a couple weeks and I come back to this thread to find entirely too many posts about I don't even fucking know what, and not enough posing.

Do you ever feel like the constant influx of new anime can get overwhelming or even off putting? I have some shows on my to-watch list right now, and maybe I'm just not into anime as much as I used to be, but I find it more difficult to sit through 26 or so episodes of a show that I may or may not even like just so I can move on to the next one. I'm not really sure what to do about it besides find a nice short-ish show that I really like, binge watch it and add it to the collection.

I guess my point is that the more anime I find out about, the less likely one of them will become 'that' show that really sticks with me.

How old are you Sovereign? Because you're never too young to learn that you don't have to watch/read 'em all. Watch a couple episodes and if it doesn't grab you, just delete them from your queue or whatever, unless you have a reliable source that gets your taste telling you to stick it out. I remember feeling this kind of burn out maybe when I was 18 and more things were getting translated, officially and unofficially, and the sudden jump in availability from, like, two or three titles to numbers in the double digits sort of made you feel like you had to take advantage of the "bounty" but that just lead to:

• Burnout
• Watching and reading a lot of crap

In conclusion: don't let a cheevos mindset control how you approach your hobbies. That sort of thing is what leads to people continuing to read Piers Anthony novels.

Not very fun fact, historically miko were viewed as helpful but weird shamans working outside of the traditional caste system and many of them did work as prostitutes.

sort of, miko's only prostitued themselves after temples started going bankrupt in the sengoku period.  They had to become prostitutes to make a livelihood and quit once Shinto temples came back into existence.  Modern mikos treat it like a high school job and quit once they get into college/married whichever comes first

Is anyone watching Parasyte: The Maxim? I discovered it a couple of months ago when it was only up to maybe episode 12 or something like that. The initial bizarreness drew me in for a while, but then around episode 5 or 6 I saw some real potential storywise. I feel like it has its dips in pacing and I would have liked either more focus on the main character the entire time or more development on secondary characters the whole time, but I'm still interested to see how it ends. I'm pretty sure that the show is nearing its finale and that it'll have 25 or 26 episodes, so now's a good time to start watching if you're interested at all. Definitely not the best thing I've ever watched but it's sort of refreshing in a way. Plus, when the action scenes do show up, they're pretty intense.

As a side note, if you want your daily dose of Japan just watch the trailers to the first and second Parasyte movies. I don't understand why Japan insists on making everything live action but it looks totally fucking goofy with the way that parasites are animated in the show.

Parasyte is fucking awesome. I haven't caught up since the hiatus but I'm looking forward to marathoning the shit out of it once it's all out. I think the anime meant they were republishing the English translation of the original manga or maybe redoing it since it was (gloriously) '90s and back when they were flipping everything.

I'd honestly love if someone brought the films over to North America because they look ridiculous and awesome.

My favourite part of Parasyte is possibly the next episode previews, though, which always contain the most mundane sounding shit. It's like listening to bumpers on BBC4 for the Archers but with the knowledge that even if it's talking about a haircut, the actual content will involve aliens eating people and heaps of blood.
