I checked on the twitch replay yesterday and saw someone mention the sweet, Bob Ross giant brush:
When first working through this idea, I wanted to find a way to make the opening as close as jankily possible to the original intro, which included making the giant brush. However, there's one mighty difference:
The camera is fucking waaaay far back, fitting in the entire brush. With the setup I had, there wasn't a way to easily create a wider view and then switch to the closer view for the painting part. The body is made out of a couple of different large format paper tubes from work, paper mache'd together and spray painted. The ferrule is a scrap of stovepipe my friend had leftover from his HVAC job, which he bent and riveted together for me. The brush is one of those Vietnamese brooms off of Amazon. The 'traditional' Bob Ross brush is two straw brooms glued together, but this broom had a softer appearance. And was much, much cheaper.
