When I used to go to theaters, there were always teenagers who would react VERY HARD to whatever was onscreen, and I think those teenagers have literally always existed. I think in the Gay '90s, those teenagers would fling themselves into each other's laps at the sight of the train, and I think contemporary pundits thought they were reacting in sincere fright.
