So I've been making my own music now for about 10 years. It's ranged from really simple attempts at synthpop (trying to cover Depeche Mode while pretending I knew what I was doing), through post-rock and EBM.

In about 2008, I released an album under the name Axxon (which has since stuck), called Sanctum, which goes a long way to show off how little I knew about production, song-writing, and music in general. Its underproduced, (in my eyes) poorly written EBM with terrible (ugh) vocals. My shortcomings at the time were not really clear to me, but at least I got something out there. (http://www.last.fm/music/Axxon/Sanctum)

I carried on making tunes, but was then joined by some friends, and suddenly it was a "band". In 2012, we put out an EP called Bite Your Tongue, which was a relatively drastic departure from the previous release. Tried some new things, some worked, some didn't. It needed to be done. Perhaps I will go back to it one day and correct what I believe are mistakes. (https://axxon.bandcamp.com/album/bite-your-tongue)

Then came a lengthy hiatus. I stopped writing music entirely. I slipped into some pretty deep depression as my job became more and more demanding and my time that I could use to write music slipped away from me. I was lacking sleep, inspiration and any form of drive. My health started deteriorating. I was a mess.

Then in late 2015, I moved closer to work (A LOT CLOSER), my free time returned, and I started doing some freelance design work for a small industrial collective/label in Chicago (www.glitchmode.com), and eventually was taken on as part of their musical roster. This utterly changed my life. My drive to create had returned, and it's like it had never left.

In December of 2015 I put out my first song in almost 4 years for the label's Christmas compilation. (https://glitchmoderecordings.bandcamp.com/track/corruptor)
I have an EP due for release in April/May, I am working and collaborating with people who were inspirations to me 5 years ago, who I can now call my friends, and I couldn't be happier. So that is where I am now. It's the first time in a long time, perhaps ever, that I have been truly proud of music that I have produced myself, and I thought it needed sharing. It may not be everyone's tastes, but I like it.
