Another feature from something Jack Chick noticed.
So
Imgur is now supporting GIFV1, which isn't really a file format. It's actually just a way to to use small video clips (webm, ogg or mp4) instead of a .gif file because the file size is smaller and the resolution is better. So it's just a more performant way of doing what a GIF does.
You can now do this on ballp.it, using the
video tag. Used the same way

PRODUCES:The video tag wants to act like an
img tag. So it'll follow regular paragraph rules, size automatically, and provide a little bit of margin around itself. So multiple videos will work like so:
[video]http://i.imgur.com/MVoW97w.webm[/video] [video]http://i.imgur.com/4vaNbR4.webm[/video]
[video]http://i.imgur.com/bFCPj4P.webm[/video]
PRODUCES: All videos added this way have the following attributes:
- autoplay
- loop
- controls
- muted
I gave the videos "autoplay" and "loop" attributes to maintain the effect that a normal animated GIF has
2. If you want to make the argument that these shouldn't autoplay and/or loop, I'm willing to have that discussion. controls and muted are non-negotiable however.
To be clear, this is the method for putting videos in your post the way you would do an image. YouTube and Vimeo videos are still handled with their respective tags. The URL inside should be an actual video file (.webm, .ogv, or .mp4 - .avi, .mkv and .flv may or may not work depending)
Should I change the tag to
gifv instead?
1. 4chan as well, but "Let's support something because 4chan does it" is not a good policy.
2. (the effect of being annoying)
