There's a few characters I'd love to see come back but given that I haven't watched the full series I'm hesitant to mention them because they might be dead or something for all I know.

This is David Lynch, Tiny Prancer. Death means nothing. I'm not even sure the number of actors who are dead (which is the only thing that makes me glum about this project) would stop them from appearing in some fashion. David Lynch would just meditate their presence into whatever scene he dreamt they were in.
