Just to be clear, the idea of bringing food is for people who would find the idea of bringing food enjoyable. Do not think it's compulsory and show up with some Duncan Hines or whatever, it's fine.

one or two pies of regular size, that is, baked in a nine inch diameter circular pan. contents: whatever fresh fruit looks appealing at the time, though i am most practiced with apples. i could take fruit type requests. i really, really like dessert baking.

Depends on what you like. There's a lot of terrific breweries and a really nice distillery that just opened up. I also think it's fun to rent a Nice Ride and tour the Greenway. It's a terrific ride.

As another random thing to do in Minneapolis, I think it's fun to get lost in the Skyway. This is better during business hours because more shit is open, but it's kind of fun in the weekend when it's empty tunnels that twist around buildings.

If one is so inclined, the Minneapolis Institute of Art is a really cool museum and general admission is free - same with the Weisman downtown.

Adding onto this, it looks like they have a really lovely print collection, with a lot of well known printmakers, if that's your jam. Call ahead and they'll pull out (almost) any piece you'd like to see, since it's very rare for many museums to have a lot of prints on display in galleries.  You can scroll through and search the collection here - https://collections.artsmia.org/index.php?page=search#department=2

I'm a little jealous, I've always wanted to see a Dürer up close, and they have quite a few of them.
