Go for it.  Make it condescending if the mood takes you.

If you're using Virtual Audio Cable, you're going to get a lot of distraction from the echo in your headphones. If you're using Windows Seven (maybe even vista) use the following steps to relay your voice immediately to your headphones AND Stereo output, so all you need to record is your stereo output (unless you want to mix it, then you should record voice and sound effect shit separately).

Right click Volume Icon
Recording Devices
Right Click Recording Device, Properties
Select the Listen Tab, select Listen to this Device
Set volume to your liking

works like a charm and is immediate. granted, I'm making the assumption you're using virtual audio cable or some other relay system. I had this exact same problem when I first started recording let's plays and I wanted the audio to come back to my earholes, which is why I suggest this fix. if I'm way off on your set up, then let me know what set up you do have and I can try to help. I'm actually quite good with this kind of stuff.

My setup is Edcast, a Winamp plugin, and my onboard sound has a trick where you can order sound output to be rerouted as sound input.  This works famously.

To get other people on board, I hosted a Skype call, called all clients (including myself, so I was on a second computer)  and piped that through the above sound reroute.  Sound was perfectly clear in my broadcast; however, all Skype clients--which weren't doing anything out of the ordinary--had an awful and inconsistent echo.

So it suggested to me that the problem lay with Skype; either I would host the future call on my 'client' computer, or try different voice software.

Hmm... got nothing, really. I've never had to collaborate with others. Maybe try ventrillo or teamspeak (which is what it sounds like you plan on trying), I'd say you're pretty much on the right direction. but i could see how the echo might form from being relayed to another relay and then sent over the internet, especially if they're hearing your voice from a microphone AND from the stereo loop back?

There's no microphone/stereo loopback, as the microphone is attached to the client computer, and the 'server' is deaf and dumb.  But all that said, it worked well enough as a quick-and-dirty and I'll point accusing fingers at Skype.  The finished file, such as it were, sounds perfectly marvellous and you can roll about in the sounds of Bunnybread readin' some "quality" girlporn.

Oh yeah.  It was fun as hell and I'm happy to do it again.  I just kinda wish Boots was there to experience all the sporadic echo audio fun.  He probably would've burst into flame from frustration.

this is a pretty fantastic thing you've made i enjoyed it. listening to this shit made me feel pretty embarrassed for everyone involved towards the beginning, but acer's anger about the time he starts reading made everything p great

8/10

you two make good couple hosts for commentary and reading, when will there be a new enjoyable segment?

I do this thing every other Sunday night.  So you don't get false expectations,  I generally read things as straight as I can, and let the literature being read work its own magic.  I had Bunnybread along for this one because, seriously, who better to read girly porn?
