Probably. I mean, I can't speak for you? But I'm only fifteen minutes in, and I'm already angry at these folks. Been so for, mm, since about the five-minute mark...? Not since the smoking episode have I gotten mad at F Plus subjects so fast, and not since monkey moms have I gotten mad at them so thoroughly! ^^;

At least the Ridiculists' mockery makes it entertaining despite the -- ARRRRGH MAKEUP IS NOT A NECESSITY YOU -- ENTITLED -- FUCK MOTHERING TOASTER STRUDELS -- ARRRRRGH >8O

also yay Squiddy!

But really, why is it always cosmetic products these people steal?

Yay Squiddy, boo shoplifters! I'd bet a lot of these fuckers really love Ayn Rand. The stunning lack of empathy that they have for the employees (who I assume could get fired if too much merchandise goes missing) and the dumb moral relativism of "if we do war crimes in the Middle East, obviously it's cool if I stuff tubes of lipstick down my pants" just pissed me off. You're not sticking it to The Man. The Man accounts for that sort of minor losses and compensates by screwing over the minimum wage employees.

And Johnny Quotationmarkseed really seems to like this subreddit.

Also, having a sugar daddy sounds like a lot of work. Why not get an actual job and just spend your free time having fun instead of hanging out with some greasy rich dude you don't actually like?

Like, that makes sense as advice if you're set on being a mail order bride as your route into america, but otherwise I feel like someone who's learned a second language and has crafted themselves into a well rounded individual must have better ways of making money.

But really, why is it always cosmetic products these people steal?
A Meat, June 25, 2016, 01:39:09 pm

Cosmetics are probably pretty good value in terms of their size - expensive to buy, lucrative to sell and pretty easy to hide. Also, apparently pretty easy to justify. And, a significant part of this appears to be spoiled girls so they're basically the cosmetic target market.

This is my favorite episode in quite some time, really wonderful stuff.

I once stole a small package of pepperoni just to see what it felt like to steal something, and by the time I got to the parking lot I felt so nervous and guilty and awful.  I wound up going back and leaving slightly more than the dollar amount for the pepperoni just sitting in the aisle where it was present.

Also, this is now how I assume furries amass their confusingly large budget.

HELLO I'M HERE TO TALK ABOUT GAMESTOP

we as a company have a huge shoplifting problem. our store in particular has it so bad that we have to keep controllers and other items that are $35+ behind the counter. there are unfortunately very few steps we are allowed to take to prevent shoplifting, though. about the best thing we can do is have somebody on the floor as often as we can helping people, aka keeping an eye on them. we've lost entire displays worth of merchandise before. hundreds of dollars, gone in one week. it sucks.

That just reminded me of the Gordon Ramsay/Paula Deen fanfic where there is a literal "hot buttered monster cock", so half of that bulb goes to you, the other half to the word filter.

It tickled me whenever the ridiculists pointed out that an account had been deleted or scrubbed, because I can only imagine the dipshit getting caught and frantically removing the detailed internet accounts of their crimes. As someone who is currently in retail managment, this episode hit home on how fucking dumb the vast majority of these shoplifters are.  At our store, it's always full denial even though we have video of you putting that shit in your pockets and you are watching the goddamn video right now.  There's also the person who decided pepper spraying loss prevention staff is a great way to escape with about 750 dollars worth of stuff.  Enjoy the assault charges to go along with your ID fraud that you decided to try as well.

On a positive note though, Squiddy's "WHEN HE DIES, WE GONNA BUILD HIM A REDDIT SHRINE" reading is one of the best readings I've ever heard on here.  Fantastic stuff in one of my favorite episodes yet.

Moral relativism aside, these people piss me off for the same reason that the libertarians who think Ayn Rand is some sort of great teacher who pulled away the shroud that is the social contract and revealed the world to be some sort of Hobbesian nightmare wherein one is only allowed to have what they are capable of holding on to. It strikes a nerve because it seems that everyone who clings to this seem to be the first people who would be totally fucked, were the world truly like that. Because they are too lazy to really succeed in such a society. And the only reason that they dare even trying this shit is because they know that more than likely the worst that will happen to them is probation. I doubt that they would even try, were the world the way that they seem to think it should be, because they would just get dead the first time they got caught.

I once got taken aside by loss prevention at a Best Buy when I was 13. I had taken a CD and the liner notes out of it's jewel case and shoved them both in the cargo pockets of my shorts. I hadn't stolen it, in fact I had paid for it in full. I just needed to sneak it past my parents when they picked me up. I was not allowed to listen to Korn.

Anyways, good episode. These people are stupid.

As enraging as the entire document was, there was something slightly satisfying about Hot Buttered's admission.

I remember being taught by my parents from a young age at drug stores and convenience stores to always let white people leave through the doors FIRST if there's only a small number of people coming and going, because people like Hot Buttered deliberately try to leave alongside random black people so the store security goes after THEM rather than the white pickpockets who actually set the alarm off. At least now there's proof of people actually admitting they do this and it isn't just anti-white propaganda BLM came up with to fuel arguments on Facebook or whatever.

In general, this document just further makes me question how it is that Reddit has this  image of being "mainstream" or "socially acceptable" in any manner, when the explicitly anti-social and reprehensible content allowed to pervade Reddit there is not only plainly visible, but even more thoroughly documented and easily accessible than it is on 4chan, which has the public perception of being the combined Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, and Pinochet of the internet.

I work in security and if you thought these people sounded pretty stupid in their reddit posts you wouldn't believe how stupid they sound while you're waiting for the police to arrive to take them away. I had one lady in a warehouse try and explain how it was her dude friend who had opened all five of her Frito bags and stuffed pink Beats headphones into each one then put them in her lunch pail. It's shitty that I work at places where I have to go through peoples food to make sure they aren't stealing from their employer but it's even more shitty that people still try and sneak stuff out in their lunch boxes.

Unrelated question for Lemon: You guys have been churning these out frequently lately, and I love it, but are you sure you're not going to burn out?

your story reminded me of one a friend who work at a phone repair warehouse told me. They have a ridiculous security system so people can't steal a dozen iPhones or whatever, but the last thief they caught had the trick of bringing a sandwich to work every day and taking home an Android between two slices of bread at the end of the day. Now their lunch boxes get XRay scanned.

chai tea latte, June 30, 2016, 07:07:22 pm

Yeah there was a time when we had to crack down on people bringing food back out from work. If you didn't finish your lunch we would have to throw it out. One officer got in trouble for eating someone's lunch in front of them. Even after this was in effect someone tried to sneak out some lunchables (yes an adult man had lunchables) and one of the guards noticed it weighed several pounds more than your average lunchable, so she pulled back the sellotape that was used to seal it back up and in each of the compartments was electronics, the bulk of which were three or four Garmins stacked in the slot for cracker sandwiches. Guy took off on foot and the police picked him up at his mom's house a few days later, and someone drew a mustache on the photo we had of him in the security office.

So yeah, the majority of people who steal shit are complete idiots, but to their benefit security guards and "LPs" can be idiots too.

idk wasnt there a "lift like theres no lets play" joke somewhere?
dractivisionary, July 06, 2016, 09:33:55 pm

I don't remember throwing in any Let's Play lines in there but I vaguely recall thinking up a bunch of LP substitute bullshit.  I haven't listened to the episode but did any of the following make the cut?

Long Penis
LARP Practice
Loud Pussy
Lame Puns

You see... sometimes I drink during recordings.... so that I may forget what the recordings were about.  It's the best, and most reliable, defense mechanism I have.

You had "Lift like there's no Longer Penises" (which I remember 'cause I laughed so much) but I don't remember any of the others.

Also, I think I heard STOG say "Let's Play," but it was hidden by someone else reading.

I'm pretty sure Loud Pussy made it (and might be the name of a band, too).

Shout out to Rockford, Illinois
LINDA, July 03, 2016, 01:38:04 pm

I had my first gun pulled on me in Rockford when I was twelve.
FattyBoBatty, July 03, 2016, 02:31:02 pm

I've been to Rockford because a friend of mine worked there.

Surprisingly, nobody pulled a gun on me!

Nice try, we know it was because you were the one pulling it on people.

I like how FPlus doubles not only as atrocity tourism, but atrocity archives. Go back to a simpler time when Reddit was full of shoplifters and listen in.

While doing research for an RP character, I discovered that one of the websites that appeared in the San Francisco episode, nouveauraw.com, has become a paywall site, with most of the recipes only available to subscribers. I'm not sure if that's more or less of a loss to the world than Reddit banning r/shoplifting.

I'm investigating a crime thing. Unlikely it will help but thought I'd skim for idiots posting about their crimes on the internet. At least I could better understand the methods of stealing a catalytic converters if nothing else. Most of these forums have ceased to exist though. Does anyone know where people post dumb shit like this these days?

Instagram provided amusing photos but it is nigh impossible to cross reference hashtags or search it to turn up anything useful for my investigation so far. I did "infiltrate" a catalytic converter group on FB though and they're pretty transparent in what they're doing and why without actually saying it. Ill share if anything especially stupid comes up.
