Hi Ballpit folks! STOG had a plan to fix the missing audio issues in an upcoming FPlus by having some of the Ballpit people read and fill in the audio for Nutshell. Luckily it looks like that won't be needed. But it made me think about making our own little ballpit community recording? Would anyone be interested in doing that? Just getting together and reading something stupid?

I have this really long demon summing doc that Lemon dumped a few months ago. That was the first thing that came to mind for me. But if others have cool docs to read I am totally down for whatever.

Skype is good for conversing, but maybe we should consult the ridiculists on how to actually record. Obviously everyone needs to run Audacity (or something similar) and record their own side, but I'm not sure how to go about syncing it up while taking care of latency, etc. We gonna need some tips.

I don't have a mic good enough to take part in this, but I always thought a fun idea for how to do something like this would be for everyone to bring in a few things of their own choice, and then not be the one to read them. Allocate them out so that nobody's reading any that they brought, so everyone's going in blind somehow.

I'd be so down for participating in this, as long as I can get plastered first. Reading "How to Cast a Flying Spell" on the TF2 server was great fun.
Now, here's one idea for a source of terrible things to read with enthusiasm: The actual ridiculists refuse to read any more MRA shit. If we want to suffer we could subject ourselves to the hot mess that is the Man-o-sphere.

Before I heard they won't do MRA, I've been working on a Man-o-sphere doc. Two of them actually (the first one sucked balls).
If we choose to go that route (rage everywhere) I can supply some content.

The Blue Snowball is a pretty solid mic for about $50. That's the one I have now.
If you want to shell out a bit more money you can get the Blue Yeti for $120 or so. It's a pretty nice upgrade, if I ever get serious about recording stuff I'll get me one of those.

I've done a couple podcast recordings with a friend of mine. What we did was start off with a 'Three, two, one, BOOP', and then sync up around the boop, and that worked pretty well.
Also, I love the idea of atrocity tourism dim-sum, everybody bringing something different, maybe from a rejected doc.

I'm a strong proponent of using the rejected documents, if only so that they may finally see the light of day in some sort of fashion.

Let's get those rejected docs going, but we have to keep in mind why they were rejected. I wouldn't want to go through and do all the stuff that's too gross for the F+ and end up stepping on Lou's toes. Maybe potluck is the way to go.

It's less impenetrable than the rest of the crazy orgone shit in the doc.

Currently it looks like episode 2 is scheduled for recording on Thursday, 8 PM Central. Anyone who's interested should message Ms. Blank on Skype! We've got a lot of the cast for ep2 figured out, but last time a few people dropped out and there were some last minute scheduling flip-flops, so a surplus of readers isn't the end of the world.
Episode 1 was an absolute blast to record, and I'm excited for everyone to have a turn. And if any ridiculist with a particular interest in the world of fine literature is reading this, it would be our pleasure to have you on episode 2. Please PM me or message 'karatcarrots' on Skype if interested!

So I've been thinking - since some of us live on the other side of the globe, perhaps we can have a separate recording that'll fit our timezones a bit better.
I'm sure A-Meat would love to record, as would I, and we probably have some eurotrash lying around as well?
I won't ask any of the ridiculists to stay up late (or early) to record with us, and it doesn't have to stand alone as an episode, but we can do a segment or two for each episode.
We can make a recurring segment out of it, call it "The Foreign Exchange Students" segment or something.
We can even try our best to actually use our native accents to make it even funnier.
Let me know what you think.
