Title: The Grossest Episode?
Post by: Nifty Nif on May 03, 2016, 02:24:59 pm
Spinning this off into its own thread.

My picks are
156: Auto Moronic Asphyxiation (https://thefpl.us/episode/156) because something about inhaling car fumes nauseates me on a visceral level.  I have a slight fear of suffocation.
117: My Mistress is Machine Washable (https://thefpl.us/episode/117) because of something I can't quite put my finger on.
80: Disliking This Episode is a Form of Harassment (https://thefpl.us/episode/80) because we just get a little too close to this guy's psyche here.  I'm mixed on single-person episodes because some of them are home runs (John Kitchin) and some of them are pretty samey (Amy Lee).  This one seems a little exploitative to me.

I actually love 95: Why Crush A Bug When You Can Ruin It Emotionally? (https://thefpl.us/episode/95)  It's so gross that I don't even imagine it, I just listen to the words.  The ridiculists' reactions make it for me.  Not having a penis helps too, probably.

What are your picks for grossest episode?

As I said in the thread that this came from, #193 (https://thefpl.us/episode/193) is my kryptonite. I listened to it around when it came out, because that was when I was starting to get into the podcast. I made the mistake of trying to listen to it while cooking dinner and nearly ended up vomiting in the spaghetti. I'm not sure if I've listened to it again more than once.

Aside from that, I'm not sure that any of them have been nearly that bad. The car-fucker and plushophile episodes are gross in terms of subject matter, but I find them rather cartoony. The part in #149 (https://thefpl.us/episode/149) about sounding always grosses me out, but the rest of the episode wasn't quite as gross.

I actually haven't listened to 193 more than once either.  It is really gross!  But I like it because it feels like a departure from other recent material.  I really like tumblr episodes but they seem to invite a lot of transphobic sentiment which is also gross...

150, the foot fetish one. none of the other ones gross me out that much, but i can't handle 150. i think it's because most of the other gross fetish episodes are bizarre and unrealistic- i don't know what it would feel like to have bugs crawling up my ass, but i know what sweaty feet smell like and the thought of eating food stored in someone's nasty gym shoes makes me want to die

203: It's Toasted (https://thefpl.us/episode/203), for so many reasons. These people are getting off on actual people having serious health issues and dying horrible deaths. Sometimes it's themselves, other times it comes across as "OH GOD IT'S SO HOT WHEN WOMEN DO IT- what I would never smoke that stuff kills people lol."

I've lost so many family members to complications from smoking and secondhand smoke that I can't get through it without puking a little in my mouth.

The only time I came close to vomiting in the course of an episode was during the Squatter episode when the hobos were describing getting rid of head lice by boiling mayo-covered dreadlocks.

I don't know what you're talking about, every time I hear someone blurt "Cream, Cream!" out of nowhere in an episode I crack up. I love The Thing You Like in Pain too, but man, the ballbusting episode is pretty hard to listen to. The flattening one where there's a description of a woman getting either her head or feet crushed by a steamroller as well, guh. Something about those people jerking it to something that is really clearcut in how non-jerkable it should be. I understand finding the idea of a giant woman crushing you to death with her smelly pussy or jerking off with your own viscera hot, we all can relate to that! But man, those other people, there's just something missing in that noggin of theirs that should be there but clearly isn't. I guess I could lump the garbage episode in here too, cause when you really think about it you'd probably get a stab wound and bleed out in your trashbag if you're all about getting thrown out in the landfill naked, merely wrapped in plastic.

Dickbugs broke me. It's the only episode I wasn't able to finish, and I'll never go back.

Honorable mentions to There's a Reason We Don't Do Drugs Together for the part about sounding, and Knowledge Is the Disease, I Have the Cure for the part about picking at teeth

I would put Achtung! Adult Babies and We're Gonna Need a Bigger Scrote on here but I've listened to those so many times it barely even gets to me anymore. That's my fault though, not the content's

Adult babies. That whole subculture gives me a total 'serial killer' vibe. It probably shouldn't; I had a brief conversation with an adult baby that I met through a friend in the SF drag scene when I was in film school, and he seemed like a well-meaning person despite his obvious emotional development issues. Nonetheless, my brain just can't cope with the idea of sexualizing babies. Maybe it's a failing on my part. Maybe it's something instinctual like primates' reactions to snakes. I just hope the rest of my life involves little to no contact with adult babies.

I find the MRA dudes to be the grossest, I just kind of detach myself from the smells and tastes of the really horrible subjects, and just find it funny and surreal instead. The food episodes for me are really easy, since there's no way in hell I'd ever eat any of those things in any setting, so I can't really imagine what it'd be like to eat cool whip jello sandwich or whatever.

The Lou Reads Cum on Food episode did get me though

Toss them out!
Every time I consider buying mayo when grocery shopping I rememberwhen one of my old roommates forgot to close the mayonnaise tub container lid all the way and I found it all congealed and semi-translucent a day or two later. These horrific flashbacks always make me recoil my hand in what I assume is pure survival reflexes.

The only episode I've never listened to all the way through is squat crackers, but that's because it's depressing, not sickening. The episodes that make me feel ill are: dick bugs, the one about people peeing themselves, the last part of adult babies, and the story in the inflation episode which describes a lady exploding. Dick bugs is probably the worst.

The plush-fuckers episode is just really depressing to me, not viscerally gross. What gets me is anything where somebody's deliberately getting off on pestilence and disease and other harmful things, like The Thing You Like In Pain, the smoking fetish episode, the dickbugs episode, or anything involving poo poo (except for food which looks like poo poo, which is gross but in a different way [freakout] ).

Probably not a surprise to anyone, but I'm not really easily grossed out by things. That being said, the episodes where people are doing damage to their teeth just put me on edge. I put this down to having had some bad experiences at the dentist when I was young.

Digital Walnut, May 03, 2016, 11:01:37 pm

I guess since I've known a few ABDLs they've been humanized to me.  Don't get me wrong, I do not like what adult babies do.  It doesn't appeal to me.  Infantilism is gross.  Littling is gross.  I heard too much of it when I had a good friend with an unfortunate roommate who got mixed up with the predatory kinky girl in residence.  Imagine a lot of mutual littling, where both partners are pretending to be babies.  Now imagine both partners enjoy power exchange and have a healthy appetite for experimentation.  A typical weeknight involved my friend and I holed up in the inner room of her divided double trying not to listen to the mélange of "a-goo-goo-goo", giggles, slaps, and stifled moans coming from the darkened room next door.   I have never approached a messy diaper made by an adult capable of using a toilet.

I'm glad folks are disgusted by MRAs.  It is a pretty disgusting phenomenon.  If you're a dude, you should talk to the dudes around you in your life that exhibit this behavior!  The internet is a bad place to change someone's mind.  As a woman, I'm pretty invested in this issue, but I really don't like talking to these guys.  Effect change where you can!

The teeth picking in Knowledge is The Disease almost made me quit listening to the episode. It was just too much for me. Dickbugs is the only other episode that, after listening to it, I really wish I hadn't.

I actually haven't had a problem with any of the other episodes. Even when the topic is infuriating, or the people are repugnant or gross, there's always been enough "funny" to make the episode palatable.

I also don't get grossed out very easily. Some of the more awful fetishes are so out there, I'm unable to vividly picture what these people are actually doing, making it all just funny to me rather than gross. The same even goes for Lou Reads: I can listen to most fetish episodes just fine. What I have the most trouble listening to includes things like MRAs and Conservapedia, because I can actually imagine people acting like that in real life, but it pisses me off rather than making me want to throw up.

But the only episodes I've only got through once were the first handful because of the recording quality. AYYYYY [coolspot]

It's better if you turn the spoiler feature back on right then and there.  We tried to scamper out of my friend's room before her roommate got started, but she had the inner room, so if the kinky FWB had already barged in, we were too late (she could comprise an entire doc).  It would have been nice if there were some sort of spoiler filter for that room.  Just some thick, frosted glass quarantining the whole situation.

I am so honored that you are all grossed out at the plushophiles episode. But for me, that's one of the 'gross' episodes I'm just not grossed out by, because by the end of it I was completely desensitised (there are even more awful things in that episode's doc they didn't read).

For me, the adult babies one is just unbelievably gross. I made the mistake of listening to it in public and nearly threw up waiting to have a haircut. The times when I've gone through and listened to all of the episodes again, I've always marked that one as played so I don't have to listen to it again. The bugs one is also pretty damn weird.

Adult Babies was severely creepy but the dickbugs episode actually made me start dry heaving. Insects crawling on me has always sent a chill down my spine and imagining that people want that sensation on their fucking genitals made the ol' gorge rise. Also I don't know why but any time clown fetishism is brought up it makes me feel deeply unpleasant. There is probably something not right in your soul if ancient vaudeville routines give you a boner.

I think the only episode that actually made me nauseated was the foot fetish one with food in shoes and whatnot, though the sheer amount of mayonnaise and ranch dressing in the food eps runs a close second.

The ones that really disturbed me, on the other hand, besides the plushophiles and the adult babies were the Juggalos (doughy white trash blegh) and, strangely enough, the bit where whoever was writing the post kept going on about his 'sexual area.'  That's a serial killer right there.

I am surprised that so many people have an issue with Pioneers of Squatcracking. Yeah what they do is unhygienic but at least they don't take that extra step of fetishizing the filth. They're just regular people with the lowest possible standards.
At the same time they're so nonchalant about the horrible conditions they're in that even if you sympathize with their problems they don't seem to have any bad feelings to empathize with.
"I mean, this stuff looked pretty gnarly, but we dropped the tabs in, and about 30 minutes later when the tadpoles were floating we had some life saving water."

Indeed.

I'm quite jaded but the only episode to really disgust me was the clown fetish episode (113 "Boink The Clown") I don't have a fear of clowns but for some reason the idea of someone wanting to fuck one or turn into one against their will made me truly sick.

In a related anecdote an actress I worked with for my video production company did some porn on the side, and only after she moved away we found out she had done some clown porn. I rather liked the woman, she was an excellent conversationalist, a talented actress and quite attractive, but after watching that I can't unsee that awful green wig and white grease paint.
