Why are they nickel metal hydroxide batteries and not nickel hydroxide batteries?

Edit: this random thought got to me so much I looked it up. There's a nickel hydroxide cathode and a metal anode.

So why not call it a nickel hydroxide metal battery or metal nickel hydroxide?
