The only western media I've ever seen that in is stuff that was deliberately trying to ape anime.

Another thing I noticed in this episode: While they were reading that one guy on the MLP forums I kept getting the distinct impression that he wasn't actually aroused by the sound of heartbeats, he just enjoyed them to an incredible degree. In the portion where he discussed why he didn't want to become a doctor he mentions that if he DID become a doctor he'd want to be a cardiologist or a pediatrician, with the latter being terrifying given his proclivity except he didn't seem to ascribe any sexual aspects to it.

We've seen some of these types before: These sort of asexual fetishists who are involved in fetish communities but who don't seem to actually take any sort of sexual enjoyment from the fetish. I remember when I was mining for the content on episode 88 (Dang, that's a flashback) I encountered a telling comment of someone saying how annoyed they were by the fact that people always put sex in their breast expansion spank stories because it "detracted from the expansion".

I legitimately think that these types don't actually get boners from the fetishes they're involved in, it's more just...fetish fandom. They don't actually get any sort of sexual satisfaction or arousal from their weird fetishes, they just like these things to a weird, all-consuming degree. This isn't true of every fetishist that comes up on the podcast (obviously), but it feels like there's at least a few of these types in almost every fetish episode...
