I think part of the appeal for the writer is the challenge of writing the bizarre smut without just  sticking human genitals on everyone. In this case all of the biology stuff is some kind of weird flex. This is definitely a thing on AO3. Some examples of similar things I’ve found include a super long Persona 5 series where the Phantom Thieves take turns having sex with every single persona in the game and an orgy with NORG from FF8 where his junk is as big as a person.

I could see Squidward topping, and not just sexy Squidward. I don't think he'd go as far as to tease SpongeBob while he's at work. He adores attention but he would never intentionally debase himself for it. I also have watched a fair bit of Spongebob.
