Castration Movie 1: Four and a half hour movie about trans women being fucking gross loser morons. Besides its length and the fact that it looks like shit, I keep flip-flopping between thinking whether it's accessible to cis people or not. On the one hand it is, it's watchable, but on the other certain things are written in such a way as to be meaningless unless you've gone through them, that is, unless you're trans yourself. The writing feels esoteric, and it is sometimes subtle, but just as often it is broad, and even trite at points. In one scene the protagonist is acting towards their friend like they are their substitute mother, and then they have to go ahead and say "It's like I'm your mom... or something..." Like cmon dude. There goes the "show don't tell." I remember that scene with coked-out Julianne Moore in Boogie Nights. Don't dumb this shit down. Overall, I'd say it feels more like an illustrated audio book than a movie proper, so. IDK. I enjoyed it, very good, I love seeing, all gonzo style, the main character gargling piss in her mouth then throwing up, licking gross guys' armpits, having gross unsexy sex, crying cause she wants to kill herself. Let her suffer more. Excited to watch the second one.
Free Willy: White kid goes through some indian spirit journey shit. Whole movie's color scheme is embedded in its sets, with only a couple scenes having hand-colorized frames for extra brilliant blues; this is a very blue/grey/yellow movie. It looks like a theatrical production rather than a realistic "out-in-the-world" film. The titular William has ADRd wailing and squealing noises to make him seem more like a puppy. Overall a surreal experience but quite funny for how the animal is basically written as this dumb aryan child's spirit guide. He's also like 9 years old but he's treated like he's 17. Truly bizzare.
Flipper ('96): Like Freenyrd Willyrd, Flipper is a cetaceous movie that is concerned with the propping up of the American mythos, though while Freemium Willium's is a psychomonster cockytic ordeal meant to brainwash the child viewer, Flipper is merely content with reproducing the movie aesthetics of old Hollywood without really trying hard to accomplish anything else. This means it's automatically better than Frill Will. It's just 60s schlock made in the 90s. Elijah Wood is cute, his love interest the bully girl from Casper is cute, Flipper is cute, the drunk australian uncle is nice and leathery. You can count the light reflectors in people's glasses in certain shots, which is really funny. This movie is shot to intentionally make it look like it was in black and white and got colorized after.
I also watched Bingo and Air Buddies, and Spooky Buddies, and probably some more animal movies for toddlers, but I have little to say about them.
