My assumption is that the main microphone wasn't being fed into the recording, so they had to repurpose the audio from the camera instead. It certainly didn't sound like the audio from a proper stage mic, unless something went funny somewhere in the connections. The reason I figure it's from the camera is because the sound has the characteristics of being recorded at a really low bitrate.

We had that, but the mixer I brought  was dead and I had to scramble together a less than ideal recording set up and ditched the crowd mic.
