Can I ask for a refund if a vending machine gave me the wrong thing? Has anybody ever attempted this? I mean, I know it's not worth the effort, but I feel like there has to be a story about someone getting the wrong candy bar from a machine and somehow getting it refunded or replaced

Depends on where it is. Usually if someone just goes to the building's front desk/wherever and asks politely, they can open up the machine and swap it out. It's such a little thing that it's not a big deal, especially if the place isn't very busy.

Every time we kill an annoying fly with a flyswatter, it is because it decided to land on some surface. Are we just erasing flies who land on surfaces from the gene pool? The only flies that are surviving are the ones constantly flying around. In attempting to stop their annoyance, are we just making them stronger and more annoying?
