28 Years Later is the best of the trilogy, or will be quadrilogy. I watched the other 2 in pretty quick succession before this one came out, for the first time. The story isn't related to the previous 2 in any meaningful way. Its the same world, Terf Island is permafucked and any notion of waiting for the infected to die out is gone. Danny Boyle's sense of style and eye for character actors is the only other through line. There are some beautiful shots, and they romanticize the macabre in such a way, well, that tower of skulls is a perfect poster image.
